Why did Jesus come? …part 3

Posted by: In: From the Fellowship, From The President 13 Dec 2010 Comments: 0

As we approach Christmas we are discussing the question, “Why did Jesus come?”

In the Christmas story in Luke chapter 2 verse 38 the prophetess Anna said He came for those who looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

redeem means to buy back. Everything we lost in the fall of adam Jesus came to buy back and restore us to God’s favor. Jesus became what the Old testament calls our “Kinsman Redeemer.”

In order to be a Kingsman redeem there were three provisions that had to me met:
1. He must be a near kinsman. Man could not be redeemed by the blood of bulls and goats nor by anything that was not a human being.

2. He must have the purchase price. Man, in the fall, had lost a recreated sinless spirit. Jesus is the only man born after Adam with a sinless spirit. He had the purchase price.

3. He must act on His own free will. Jesus when face with the death of the cross said, “not my will but thine be done.”

We have been redeemed – Merry Christmas!
