In this article, I want to share about and encourage each one of you about the importance of “Walking In The Light.”
Over the past few years I have ministered on the importance of walking in the light of God’s Word. There is a vast difference in knowing what the Word says and walking in what it says. There are many who can tell you what the Word says, but have no revelation on how to walk it out.
In 1John 1:5-7, the Word says, “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
I like what verse five says, “God is light.” God didn’t just produce light. He is light, and for us to walk in the light, we must stay connected to Him. Therefore, ‘light’ isn’t just a subject in the Word of God. It is God. I have attended meetings where the one speaking says, “I am going to share on the subject of love.” Once again, love is more than a subject. Love is God! In 1John 4:7-8, the Word says, “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”
If we are going to get results in our lives and experience His best, we can no longer walk in any form of darkness. We must keep ourselves in the light. Why is this so important? When we walk in the light, that light will reveal any trap the enemy has set before us.
Let me give you an example. We have all entered into a garage or some type of building or maybe just walked up on a porch. While doing so, we step right into a spider’s web. While wiping it from your face, you say, “I didn’t see that.” Why? Some things can only be seen when light hits it the right way. Anytime sunlight shines through the web or towards the web, then the web is easily seen.
What I am trying to communicate is, anytime we turn from the light of God’s Word, we are more susceptible to get caught in one of the enemy’s ‘webs.’
In the day and time we are living in, we must be more aware of what is lying before us than ever before. In 2Corinthians 2:11, the Word also says, “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” Ignorance is no respecter of persons. It will destroy anyone.
So we must make a decision to walk in the light of God’s Word on purpose. Anytime we turn from the light, whether consciously or unconsciously, the truth is, we automatically enter darkness. We enter the enemy’s territory. Anytime the enemy can get you walking in darkness, he has the upper hand to deceive you in other areas of your life.
Let’s take a look at 1 John 1:7, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”
Notice again what verse seven says. If we walk in Him, ‘In His Word’, it will cause us to have fellowship one with another. When God’s people walk unified in the Light, they will experience the purest form of fellowship. There is nothing like fellowshipping with a brother in the Lord who is living clean and doing his best to walk in what the Word has commanded.
Make a decision today to walk in the Light, to walk in Him. God doesn’t want you or anyone else caught in the enemy’s web. In these last days, the world is getting darker. Thanks be unto God, we are getting brighter.
